Cyber Liability Insurance – Taking the sting out of information security breaches – 4 -6 March 2014

18 February 2015, 09:15

Our esteemed panel of presenters will discuss examples of underinsured clients and give information on how to safeguard yourself and your clients from common mistakes that allow us to be hacked and leave us vulnerable. For example, did you know that you can attract liability claims through your online activities and email comments?

We investigate what can be done to mitigate the risks and we unravel the implications of the POPI Act, which was signed into law last year and awaits implementation. We also assess the Electronic Communications Act and pose questions as to whether our industry is ready for this law that has had serious ramifications in overseas jurisdiction already.

The implications of technology and procedures within our industry will also be addressed.

The rapidly evolving cyber landscape places organisations and the data they possess, manage and process, in the firing line. Minor breaches and the loss of seemingly harmless data could result in huge repercussions for organisations and their customers alike. Cyber liability insurance is there to facilitate and manage the breach response process, with the aim of reducing the potential impact to organisations and their clients, in terms or consequences and costs.

Clients will be asking their brokers about this cover, be sure that you are well informed about the latest developments.
